About Liberty County Beekeepers

The formational meeting of the Liberty County Beekeepers was a real success!  The enthusiasm and energy was awesome.  About 20 people attended the first meeting on April 16, 2013.

It was decided that meetings will be on the 1st Tuesday of the month at 7pm, with our first publicly announced meeting being on May 7th, 2013 at the Dayton Community Center. Officers were elected: John Tucker as President, Clifford Silveria as Vice President and Cameron Crane as Secretary. Plans are to elect a Treasurer at the May 7th meeting. Membership dues will be $20 per family/household.

Officers and other interested parties met for a planning meeting May 2nd. The business structure for LCB was the main topic. It was agreed to have the monthly business meeting at 6:30 pm and the regular monthly program starting at 7pm.

The first official meeting on May 7th was attended by 26 people. Ron Bentley was elected Treasurer. A logo was selected from several ideas submitted by Patrick Tamiggi. Patrick and Gregg Simpson both submitted ideas for a mission statement. Elements of both mission statements were used to create our official mission statement. 8 of the new members volunteered to be on a Board of Directors.

The Agrilife Extension Office in Liberty has agreed to provide LCB with a regular meeting room on the first Tuesday of each month.
